Our properties are situated in or just above the characteriscic town of Argegno, all on the western shores and in the Valle Intel i, a ligtle known area, which is a 'must visit'
You will wake up to the sun rise and relax in the evening, after a long warm day, on your terrace,
in the cool evening air.
ARGEGNO is a small town on the western branch of Lake Como, with 693 inhabitants. It sits at the foot of a lovely, open valley, The valle Intelvi, which links Lake Como to Lake Lugano by road.
It is 18kms from the capital town Como, easy to reach by local bus from Como and also the navigation company ferries. They all stop in Argegno!
From Argegno you can reach every other town on the lake by ferry, fast or slow and enjoy the lake from the lake, a sit should be seen.
From Argegno, there is an interesting cable car ride, taking you to the small mountain top village of Pigra, with it’s wonderful views of the lake.at 850m above sea level.
The village centre with it’s safe pedestrian paths, coming from the hillside, has characteristic narrow cobbled lanes and archways, there are several shops, the local panifico, which supplies freshly baked bread and croisants 7 days a week, Mario’s fruit and vegetable store and a small mini market for basics On the lake front, there is a small market on Monday mornings, very good for fresh foods, but there are also a few clothe stalls too. A very important spot is Zoe’s ice cream parlour, in my opinion, the best on the lake., a MUST TRY. There are two banks with international cash machines, post office, farmacy and many small bars, snack bars, pizzerias and restaurants, all offering excellent quality food. A delightful harbour with marina, where the locals moor their boats, a fishing tackle shop, The village has it own pebble beach and this summer a new ‘lido’ area with swimming pool on the lake side.
At the centre of all this is an attractive fountain, added to the village two years ago, on summer evenings there is often live music to entertain guests.
It is also worth wondering just outside Argegno on the hill side into the valley, where there are other very nice restaurants, La Grig
The valley is ideal for walkers, with many scenic routes within the surrounding area. Should you wish to visit Switzerland, lake Lugano is a 20min drive away and the famous 'Balcony of Italy', with its spectacular views of the Alps within a 15mins drive.
